What is it?

CRI, is short for 'colour rendering index', and is measured on a scale from 0 to 100. The CRI Scale represents how good the LED is at showing true surface colour when compared to daylight or an old tungsten filament bulb. It is also a measure of the percentage to which the LED shows the full colour spectrum.

What am I looking for?

In theory, the higher the CRI, the better quality the bulb. Most good quality LEDs have a CRI of 80+ but there are some higher quality bulbs which have come out recently which have a CRI of 90+. These LEDs can be used for lighting pictures in your hallway or living room or where you want to highlight the paint on your walls. Examples of a CRI 90+ LED would be Philips ExpertColour range.
