Geofencing map

What is it?

Geo-fencing (geofencing) is a feature in a software program that uses your phone's GPS signal to define geographical boundaries and trigger something to happen when you either enter or exit that boundary.

Your phone will need to have location tracking switched on and this can cause a phone's battery to last less time.

What is it used for?

Geo-fencing is used for controlling devices that can save money by switching on or off either when they know you are at home or not. For example, When you leave the house in the morning and the Geo-fenced control boundary, your Tado Smart Thermostat turns the heating down so that it isn't wasting energy heating a house with no one in it. This has been reported to save up to 20% of a family's heating bill per year.
